Current student and multiple tabs/windows

It looks like a lot of problems are caused by multiple tabs/windows open
If you select 2 students, then open the first one in one tab or window, then open the second one in a new tab or window.
The current student in the session will point to the second, but anything done on the first referencing the "current_student" will be applied to the second one erroneously.
Somtimes the session for selected_student(s) may be empty, handle this as well. I think some logic on current_student to use an alternate parameter is possible.
Handle when in selected_students
and when not in selected_students.
